People 'should remove some things from garden sheds this winter'

There are certain things that people should remove from their garden sheds now that the cold winter weather has set in, one commentator has claimed.

Sharon Morrisey wrote in the Journal Sentinel that some garden products and equipment should be stored indoors for the winter.

She said that liquids should not be allowed to freeze and also advised that people should make sure that pesticides are locked away in their original containers and are out of the reach of children.

"Plastic sprayers and rubber and vinyl hoses should be stored empty, preferably indoors," Ms Morrisey added.

Garden shed owners should "winterise" their lawnmowers by running the engines dry, draining and replacing the oil, cleaning the air filter and oiling the plug, the writer also advised.

Last month, gardening enthusiast Jennie Macfie wrote in a piece for the Herald Scotland that people who organise their sheds in the winter will be glad of this when the spring gardening season comes around again.ADNFCR-2655-ID-800277692-ADNFCR
