Controversial artist Damien Hirst has revealed that he uses his "little garden shed" as an art studio.

The Financial Times interviewed the 45-year-old as his famous work For the Love of God goes on display in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.

This piece, which is, according to Hirst, "beyond bling, it's super bling", is comprised of a platinum skill covered with 8,600 small diamonds with a single large pear-shaped pink diamond in the forehead.

It went on sale for £50 million and was bought by a consortium of investors, with two-thirds of it remaining under the ownership of Hirst himself.

He told the newspaper that he has a team of around 30 assistants currently working on one of his latest projects, called Fact, which comprises of paintings of photographs.

Hirst said that he is also still doing his own paintings in the shed at his property in Devon.

Last month saw the end of an art exhibition in Melbourne, Australia, called Into the Shed.

This focused on a fantasy garden theme and featured a number of graffiti-covered sheds. ADNFCR-2655-ID-800274824-ADNFCR
