Wild animals 'seek shelter from winter weather in garden sheds'

Homeowners are being advised to be careful with what they keep in their garden sheds and garages as wild animals often shelter in these buildings during the winter.
Leatherhead-based animal charity Wildlife Aid told thisislocallondon.co.uk that the colder it gets, the more tempted animals will be to venture into sheds in the search of warmth and protection from the elements.
Over recent weeks, the charity has noted a dramatic increase in the number of small animals being killed in and around garages.
It says that this can be because they have been poisoned when they try to drink spilt liquids such as anti-freeze.
Wildlife Aid founder Simon Cowell said: "Be particularly careful with anti-freeze and keep lids on all containers when not in use."
Earlier this week, gardening commentator Graham Porter wrote in his weekly tips column in the Huddersfield Examiner that people should take the opportunity to empty their sheds of old compost, broken pots, faulty tools and worn-out gloves now that the summer is well and truly over.
