A 60-year-old robot has emerged from a garden shed to take its place in the National Museum of Computing.
Called George, the large humanoid robot was built by former RAF officer Tony Sale, now 79, back in 1950, CNET UK reports.
George was constructed out of aluminium and duralumin salvaged from a crashed Wellington bomber.
The robot, which is 6ft tall and can walk, talk and track illuminated beer bottles with its eyes, had been languishing in Mr Sale's shed for 45 years before it was put in the museum in Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes.
Its remote-controlled robotic responses are powered by two motorbike batteries and, with the addition of new batteries and oil, the robot is back to working as it used to.
People who want to use there garden shed for more than just storing their old belongings can easily turn them into a Santa's grotto with a lick of paint and some soft furnishings, a post on articlebase.com recently stated.
