Succulents are low-maintenance plants, garden shed owners learn

Succulents are great plants as they do not require much looking after, garden shed owners have learned.
This is according to Emma Townshend, who wrote in a piece in the Independent that she "officially gave up" trying to grow and maintain window boxes full of flowers as they kept dying when she went away for the weekend.
"Instead, I planted three boxes of succulents, pretty much invisible from the road, but delightful up close when viewed from inside the house," she continued.
Ms Townshend went on to say that these desert plants provide something lovely to look at each week, as the rows of spikes seem to shift regularly.
She recommends gardeners interested in succulents to pot them in unusual containers.
A writer called Liam recently wrote on thegardenshed.info that garden shed owners can enjoy colourful blooms even in the winter by forcing bulbs to grow.
He recommended amaryllis as an especially good plant for this as it can be forced easily and produces large, colourful flowers.
