Man uses garden shed as rocking horse workshop

16:11:20 4th November 2010

A man from Hale, near Liverpool, has been using his garden shed as a workshop in which to make rocking horses.

Cliff Farrington, 82, uses the shelter provided by his shed to transform reclaimed timber into not only rocking horses but rocking chairs too, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The great-granddad, who is a retired mechanic, donates his creations to raise money for a number of charities, including St John's Church in Brooklands, Sale.

He learnt his carpentry skills at the Trafford woodwork group at Altrincham College of Arts.

"It keeps me busy - I couldn't be sat in the house all day watching TV. Instead I'm out in my shed every hour of the day playing about and experimenting," Mr Farrington told the newspaper.
