Hydrangeas for owners of garden sheds

Described as Atlanta's best-loved flower, hydrangeas are not commonly seen in the UK; hardy US breeds, however, should be seen sprouting in the British Isles next year.
Joanna Fortnam of the Telegraph describes the blooms as "the horticultural equivalent of voluptuous but tough Southern belles" that, until recently, have been "overlooked" in the UK.
Two newly-developed breeds are set to be popular in the UK: the Invincibelle, which is the first pink-flowered arborescens hydrangea, and the Incrediball - a strong-stemmed version of the Annabelle blooms.
Bringing long-lasting colour in the summer, the Invincibelle works well in a pot too, according to Ms Fortnam.
Meanwhile, the Incrediball is strong enough to grow even in exposed areas, with much stronger stems than its counterpart Annabelle.
Owners of garden sheds should find both varieties readily available next year.
Alan Titchmarsh recently suggested, in a piece for express.co.uk, that gardeners choose hardy plants in order to ensure they survive the winter.
