Autumn 'good time to move plants' for owners of garden sheds
13:10:20 18th October 2010
Moving plants around is best done now, according to one expert, while the conditions are good.
Anna Pavord of the Independent suggests that the recent rain, paired with the warmth still present in the ground, makes October a suitable time to move plants.
When preparing soil to receive new plants, she suggests forking up the bottom of the hole so that the roots can easily work into the earth, while adding bonemeal can also be beneficial.
If herbaceous plants are being moved, Ms Pavord recommends cutting down their foliage.
Meanwhile, those who have grown apples should ensure the last of the crop is picked and stored separately to fruit collected earlier on to prevent deterioration.
And those looking for somewhere to keep their harvest could benefit from owning garden sheds. Recently, the gardentoolorganizereview.info blog suggested that these buildings can solve almost any storage problem.
