How owners of garden sheds can grow Panicum virgatum

13:10:20 15th October 2010

Panicum virgatum can add colourful displays to the garden, according to one expert, who offers tips on how to grow it.

Val Bourne of the Telegraph suggests it should be planted in full sun and, during its early stages, watered frequently.

She recommends planting them in drifts, approximately two-and-a-half ft apart, to maximise their effect.

Thriving on cold winters followed by hot summers, owners of garden sheds should find that the grass does particularly well in warmer regions of the country.

Anna Pavord of the Independent recently suggested that autumn is a good time to start weeding, as the ground is still warm.

She also recommended cleaning out and disinfecting greenhouses to get rid of any pests before the winter months draw in.
