Use garden sheds to store bulbs

Bulbs are often in the shops slightly ahead of when they need to be planted; one expert has offered suggestions on how to store them well.
Helen Yemm of the Telegraph, in response to a reader's query, suggests that bulbs are kept in a cool and dry place to prevent them from spoiling prior to being planted.
Garden sheds could therefore be the perfect place for storing bulbs, allowing a cool temperature and protection from the elements.
Meanwhile, many bulbs can be planted this month, such as daffodils and crocuses. However, tulips can be planted in November, Ms Yemm states.
Planting the bulbs deeper in the ground than usual can prevent pests, such as squirrels, from uncovering and eating them.
Earlier this month, Lia Leendertz of the Guardian suggested that alliums are a good flower to plant in the autumn months.
