Copper tools rise in popularity

Copper tools are becoming increasingly popular items to be found in garden sheds, as their benefits become more widely recognised.
Jean Vernon, writing for the Telegraph, has been looking at the rise of copper tools and the reasons for their popularity.
Various cultures have long hailed the benefits of using copper in the garden - the Chinese and the Egyptians both championed the material for its antimicrobial properties.
Current thinking suggests copper tools are beneficial for both gardener and garden.
They are also good for keeping away pests, such as slugs and snails.
Recently, the benefits of owning simple gardening tools were extolled by Anna Pavord writing for the Independent, who suggests that "The basic kit is the same one that John Evelyn described in the 17th century: spade, fork, trowel, line, hoe, rake, [and] something to cut with".
