Garages 'important' when considering home security

Garages need to be considered when reviewing home security.

Ensuring that your garage doors are of good quality can be essential in keeping out intruders, one blogger has advised.

The author of Just Another Weblog has suggested that garage owners may also want to look at updating any automatic garage doors should they be more than 15 to 20 years old, as these will be easier for intruders to overcome.

Another way to reduce the risk of thieves entering homes is to ensure garages and garden sheds are locked even if they only contain tools. This is because such tools can then be used to force entry to the main building.

Last week, South Gloucestershire Police toured their local area with a garden shed in order to raise awareness of how to secure such buildings properly and to highlight the important part they play in home security.
