Australian first time buyers snap up Log cabin

Desperate first-time buyers became engaged in an online bidding war in Australia after a 'luxury log cabin' was made available. Formerly used to promote the state of Tasmania, the 42-ft-long property is actually made from plywood and fibreglass, but looks like a whole tree trunk lying on its side.

In addition to doors at both ends, the unique build also comes with wheels attached, meaning it can be transported anywhere in the country. As such, when Alan Jennison put it up for auction online, it sparked a major bidding war between prospective first-time-buyers looking for an original and cost-effective means of getting onto the housing ladder, with the winner eventually pledging to pay £7,600.

Selling the faux log cabin, the entrepreneur stated in his advert: "Add some plumbing and windows and live in tremendous style."Buy a block of land, site this log on it, bit of work and you have your house." According to the design company Treehugger, multi-walled log cabins are the most efficient types of property when it comes to cutting carbon emissions.
