Steel garden sheds 'have their advantages'

16:07:20 30th July 2010

Homeowners can choose between timber garden sheds and steel garden sheds, with both options having their advantages.

According to the Teak Bench blog, timber garden sheds are the more aesthetically-pleasing option available, but they require more maintenance than those made of metal.

Steel garden sheds have become increasingly popular in recent years, according to the source, with many households attracted to their sturdier nature.

"In contrast to lumber, steel and aluminium storage sheds can never split and leak on the outer surface ... another benefit is that metal won't ever give in to harmful termites and various other harmful bugs," the blog added.

The source went on to say that another positive is that steel structures do not need to be treated with a preserver and can therefore work out cheaper in the long run.

Recent research by confused.com found that garden sheds are among the five most popular garden items British homeowners possess, with their average value standing at £123.ADNFCR-2655-ID-19915027-ADNFCR
