Garden sheds not just for tools

Garden sheds should not just be used to store tools, suggests Sans Anjay, an author of several gardening books and blogs.
He suggests that wooden garden sheds, being aesthetically pleasing and practical, offer almost an extension of the family home.
Those with children might want to turn their shed into a playhouse, giving them a special space of their own to play. Mr Anjay also suggests getting the children to take part in decorating the shed could make them feel more involved.
A private space for adults can also be found in garden sheds, which can be transformed into a sophisticated space for both working and relaxing.
Mr Anjay is not alone in thinking there are ways to be more creative with garden sheds - earlier this month Reg Miller won Shed of the Year 2010 by turning his shed into a replica of a pirate ship.
An existing shed can be used as the base for these new spaces, however Mr Anjay also suggests either buying or building yourself a new one as alternative options.
