Pensioner restores bikes in garden shed

A pensioner who has built up a rare collection of pre and post-war Raleigh bikes and restored them in his garden shed will see some of them go on display at the Sky Ride event in Southampton this weekend.

Hugh Cleverly will show off some of his bicycles on a stall at the Sky Ride village in Hogland's Park on Sunday (July 25th), the Southern Daily Echo reported.

Among the bicycles Mr Cleverly worked on in his garden shed is a model which dates back as far as 1934 and visitors can even see the original receipt for it as well.

Author Chris Vine also began making use of his garden shed to enjoy his hobby.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Herald Scotland, Mr Vine said that he rekindled his love of engine making in his shed after being diagnosed with ME.

He told the newspaper that his love affair with the machines began when he was a child and he still has a passion for them as an adult.
