Farm buildings for sale on former eco-town site

16:07:20 15th July 2010

A section of land that was earmarked for an eco-town development has been put up for sale and includes various farm buildings and derelict cottages.

The Yorkshire Post reports that 500 acres of the Outon Hall grounds have gone on the market for a price of £4.65 million.

Among the features potential buyers can look forward to are Royds Green Farm, two old cottages and several traditional farm buildings.

Property agents Knight Frank have been placed in charge of selling the land and the company claims that it is suitable for residential, commercial or leisure use.

Originally, the Labour government wanted to construct 9,000 carbon-neutral homes on the land however, serious objections from local residents saw the plans rejected.

Manchester United footballer Gary Neville recently put his converted farm buildings home up for sale.

The Manchester Evening News reports that the 34-year-old spent millions on the property in 2005 and is hoping to sell it as soon as possible.
