Police in the Pembrokeshire village of Narberth are urging homeowners to secure their garden sheds after burglars stole several hundred pounds worth of equipment from a shed in Robeston Wathen.

The authorities are encouraging people to use heavy-duty padlocks and to code mark all of their equipment to prevent further cases of theft, the Western Telegraph reports.

According to the newspaper, thieves struck between 19:00 BST on July 10th and 11:00 BST the following day, taking various pieces of expensive gardening equipment.

Among the items stolen were a petrol-push lawnmower, a strimmer, a cordless drill, a sander and a water pump.

Police in Coatbridge recently apprehended a thief who had also stolen several items from people's garden sheds.

The Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser reported that 18-year-old Daniel Anderson was placed on probation for 15 months after police discovered various pieces of furniture which he had taken from residents' sheds at his home.
