Farm buildings have been given the green light to be built in Ryedale.
Approval was granted by Ryedale District Council to allow a farm building housing 12,000 free-range laying chickens to be built in Wilton, the Gazette and Herald reported.
Welcoming the investment, councillor Lindsey Burr advised the farm buildings be of a colour that will blend in with the nearby countryside.
Further approval was given for an extension of farming buildings to house machinery and livestock at Green Farm in Langton, the newspaper noted.
Agent for the scheme Alan Tate-Smith explained the existing farm buildings were not fit for modern practices.
South Oxfordshire District Council has also granted plans to turn farm buildings in Cholsey into a restaurant, offices and shops, the Oxford Times revealed.
It is part of a project to turn a former mental hospital into more than 350 homes, a third of which will be available through a shared-ownership scheme or will be social housing.
