Garden sheds 'can be converted into wonderful summer houses'

With some imagination and hard work homeowners can turn their garden sheds into places to relax or engage in different hobbies.

According to UKTV Gardens, those who need a space in which to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life may want to think of a fantasy theme that could be introduced to the garden shed.

The source suggests keeping the outside of the garden shed plain and understated so that it does not detract from the overall beauty of the garden, with the interior the place to let one's creative juices flow.

"You could conjure up a Greek Mediterranean theme and go for a colour scheme of cobalt blue and white combined with wooden shutters and simple floor cushions in a bright and breezy fabric," the magazine added.

Another suggestion is to introduce a Moroccan theme with some jewel-coloured cushions and low-level seating.

Increasing numbers of people are beginning to realise the appeal of having a garden shed, with a poll of tradesmen by Screwfix revealing that they are becoming more popular than home extensions, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported.
