Farm building worries see egg production plant proposals scrapped

Plans to construct an egg-production unit in a remote beauty spot in Congleton have been rejected over fears that the project was not financially viable and would have seen derelict farm buildings spoiling the countryside.
Josef Eckert has submitted three different plans to develop the scheme on Lambert's Lane but each has been rejected, with concerns over the number of heavy goods vehicle using the roads also a factor, thisisstaffordshire.co.uk reports.
Tom Byrne, leader of the action group opposed to the plans, said that there are a number of concerns which had not been addressed and the decision to reject the scheme was the right one.
"It would not have been financially viable and we feared if it failed, derelict farm buildings would be left in what is a beauty spot," he told the news provider.
One farm building development which has been given the green light is the regeneration of Fairmile Hospital in Oxfordshire into a retail and leisure space, the Oxford Times reported.
