Log cabin building application controversy

Bolton councillors have been accused of being hypocrites after giving the go-ahead for the development of a log cabin on green belt land.
The owners of Shore Lodge Farm in Egerton were given permission to build a log cabin for security reasons following thefts and acts of vandalism, the Bolton News reports.
However, the local authority has been accused of being hypocritical after approving the log cabin application just hours after rejecting proposals from Manchester United defender Gary Neville to build an eco-house on green belt land in Harwood.
Councillor David Wilkinson said that a crucial difference is that the farm application involves constructing an agricultural building on land designated for such use.
"If this was just for a house on the green belt it would be a no," he added.
The Suffolk Coastal District Council recently gave its approval to the construction of 12 log cabins in the countryside near Halesworth.
According to the Beccles and Bungay Journal, the log cabinjs will be used as holiday homes.
