Writer talks fondly of farm building memories

A writer has talked about the fond memories she has of playing in her parents' farm buildings when she was a little girl.

Marilyn Kratz, writing for the Fence Post, said that she and her brothers and sisters used to enjoy hours of fun playing and going on adventures in the farm buildings.

While she was not a fan of the hen house because the animals used to peck her when she tried retrieving their eggs, Ms Kratz did like spending time in the chicken coops.

"I loved them when they were filled with downy little chicks. But they were even more fun when the chicks were big enough to be moved out. Then my sisters and I would clean them thoroughly and use them as playhouses," she wrote.

Many of the farm buildings have been knocked down over the years, but Ms Kratz stated that her memories are still alive.

The Dereham Times recently reported that a chicken farm in the Norfolk village of Bawdeswell has been given the go ahead to demolish 11 old farm buildings and construct six new ones.
