Homeowners 'can turn garages into another room of the house'

With a modest financial outlay and some creative thinking homeowners can turn their garage into a comfy room for them to spend some time in.
Lou Ann Schafer, senior marketing manager for Gladiator GarageWorks, told the Chicago Tribune that there are two main steps people can take to make their garage more than a place to store clutter.
Cleaning up and purging are what she recommends, saying that broken toys and other useless items should be thrown away as they are no longer needed.
"The second rule is to treat it like another room in the home. So paint it, finish the walls. It's amazing how people treat and view their garages differently when it feels like a room in the house," Ms Schafer told the newspaper.
According to recent data from Santander Mortgages, at least 1.1 million people have converted garages and outdoor buildings into living spaces which many believe will boost the value of their property.
