A chicken farm in the Norfolk village of Bawdeswell has been given the go ahead to demolish 11 old farm buildings and construct six new ones in their place.
The Dereham Times reports that Breckland Council's development control committee has approved plans to build six new farm buildings to be used as breeding houses.
Each farm building will be able to accommodate 6,000 birds and the company has also been told it can construct feed units, egg storage facilities and an administration centre.
The 2.45 hectare site at Elsing Lane Farm is used as a broiler breeder site to produce grandparent and parent stocks for chickens used in global meat production, the newspaper went on to add.
According to a recent report in the Thetford and Brandon Times, historic farm buildings at Abbey Barns in Thetford are to be converted into a new housing development, much to the dismay of local residents.
