Garden shed becomes World Cup sanctuary

A Liverpool man has revealed that his garden shed has become a base for him and his friends to follow England's World Cup campaign.

Speaking to the Southport Visitor, 44-year-old Paul Robertson said that usually his garden shed is an escape where he can watch horse racing, however, the next three weeks will see it become a place to take in the world's biggest football tournament.

He and his friends can enjoy darts, snooker and other activities in the shed, while there is also a bar to give it a real pub atmosphere.

"I started building the shed last year and normally use it at the weekends and watch the horse racing in there. For the tournament though, I've put up the England flags, installed a fridge and am using it as a base to watch games," Mr Robertson told the newspaper.

He added that as he is the landlord of the establishment, he can decide when last orders will be.

St Helens man Keith Birch has also converted his garden shed into a football sanctuary and was recently featured on James Corden's World Cup Live programme, the St Helens Star reported.
