Visit open gardens this weekend

17:06:20 4th June 2010

Hundreds of gardens will be open to the public in the first two weekends of June, to raise money for charity and showcase the owners' gardening skills.

As part of the National Garden Scheme's Open Garden nearly 270 gardens will be open on the weekend of June 5th to 6th and the following weekend at least 300 will be open across England and Wales.

A spokesperson for the National Garden Scheme said: "With warm sunny weather forecast for much of England and Wales this coming weekend take the opportunity to enjoy the splendours and sights of some truly fabulous gardens and at the same time help raise much needed funds for charities."

Approximately ten gardens will be open in the village of Wildhern, four miles north of Andover, on June 6th, reports This is Hampshire.

Money made from the open gardens, plant sale, gift and toy stalls, and tea and cake will be donated to the Andover Parkinson Support Group.

The National Garden scheme produces the Yellow Book each year, which details 37,000 gardens across the UK.
