17:06:20 1st June 2010

Gardening fans in Scotland could find accessories for their outdoor spaces and garden sheds and see Show Gardens at Gardening Scotland 2010.

Taking place on June 4th, 5th and 6th at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, gardening products, furniture and food will be exhibited.

Visitors will be able to see the Show Gardens, scarecrows donated by celebrities such as Alan Titchmarsh, watch cooking demonstrations and wander round the living garden, which celebrates the International Year of Biodiversity.

Jim Jermyn, Gardening Scotland show manager, told the Herald Scotland: "We have expanded the show to attract as many novice gardeners and families looking for a great day out as we do committed gardeners.

A total of 20 Show Gardens will be created including Courtyard and College Show Gardens.

One example that can be seen at the event is a garden designed in the Rococo style, which displays the plants that will thrive on the east coast of Scotland.

The International Year of Biodiversity was declared by the United Nations with the aim of making humans aware of the ecosystems around them and encourage them to protect the environment.
