Unusual facts about the RHS Chelsea Flower Show
15:05:20 26th May 2010
Gardening fans are hearing lots about the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show which is being held this week.
The plant of the year was revealed yesterday as the Harlequin Blue and this year's show has been the most popular with ticket sales selling out earlier than in previous years but there are some lesser known facts.
Tim Lusher from the Guardian has some things that consumers may not have known about the event, which runs until May 29th.
For example there is a lily named after Lily Allen which can be bought at local garden centres, the fridges in the Trailfinders Australian garden are filled with cans of Fosters.
Stephen Bennett, RHS shows director, said: "For visitors RHS shows are a great way to fulfil all their gardening needs. Gardening is about indulgence without the guilt; it's the nation's favourite hobby, but at the same time it's good for you and the environment."
Another fact is that the paperback beside the pool in the children's society garden by Mark Gregory is James Patterson's You've Been Warned, a novel about a nanny who has an affair with her charge's father and subsequently has nightmares.
