Plant of the year announced at Chelsea

Gardening fans may wish to stock up on seed supplies in their garden sheds following the announcement of the Plant of the Year 2010.
At the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show, the plant of the year was announced today (May 25th).
After the first ever Plantsman Conference at the show a judging panel decided to crown the Streptocarpus 'Harlequin Blue' as the best plant.
This flower was raised by Lynne Dibley and exhibited at the show for the first time. It is the first bi-colour Streptocarpus with baby blue upper petals and yellow on the lower petals.
A spokesperson for the show said: "The 2010 RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year was created to award the most inspiring new plant at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.
"Twenty plants were chosen from the Floral and Garden exhibitors to form a shortlist on which the committee members voted."
In second place was the 'Ruby Ruby' and in third was the Cypripedium flavum,an orchid variety.
Tickets for this year's show sold out in record time.
