Store DIY tools in a capital steel building

16:05:20 7th May 2010

DIY has grown in popularity among women and they could keep their newly acquired tools in a Capital Steel Building to keep them secure.

Tesco reported on May 3rd that the numbers of women shopping for home improvement equipment such as paintbrushes has trebled in the past decade, from 20 per cent in 2000 to 60 per cent today.

Build It magazine editor, Duncan Hayes, believes this growth in female DIYers is due to the recession as consumers feel they have less money to spend on home improvements.

He said: "Decorating is a way to make your mark and improve your home at a very affordable cost, with very apparent results."

Some women have turned to gardening in order to boost the value of their homes and buy tools such as pink hand trowels, up by 102 per cent, or pink secateurs, up by 155 per cent in the last year, Tesco figures show.

All of this new equipment could be stored in a capital steel building, which are durable and easy to protect against thieves
