Students' gardening skills to be displayed

16:04:20 26th April 2010

Norwich students will be showcasing flowers they have grown using tools from garden sheds, when they open the Bishop's Gardens in May.

Those studying horticulture at City College Norwich will be selling plants they have grown using their gardening skills, as part of a summer fete to celebrate the opening.

Guests will be able to walk around the four acre garden, play lawn bowls, enjoy the fete and listen to local folk band the Backroom Harmonies band when the celebrations take place, on May 9th.

Richard Turner, programme manager from City College, said: "We are really pleased and proud to be chosen to host the first event at the Bishop's Gardens this summer."

He added that the students had been heavily involved in the preparation and that any skills they gained would be used in their future careers.

The money raised from the day will pay for students to enjoy trips away and undertake other activities.

The college runs academic and job-specific courses for a variety of students including those with disabilities.
