Rabbits saved from garden shed

15:04:20 26th April 2010

Fire-fighters today saved 20 rabbits from a garden shed in Marlow, it has been reported.

A large garden shed in the back garden of the house on Oak Tree Road, Marlow caught alight at 9.26am and a fire crew from High Wycombe attempted to salvage it.

The rabbits were kept in a second garden shed nearby but the fire service managed to stop the blaze spreading using a fan.

Unfortunately the first garden shed, was destroyed and the firemen discovered hutches inside.

However, Bill Lambrich, crew manager, said: "We were relieved to find, on closer inspection, that they were all empty."

He added that his crew were greeted by the "twitching noses" of 20 rabbits in the second shed.

Fire was prevented from spreading by the fan which was left on for an hour. The rabbits were unharmed and scurrying around.

A reinspection will be carried out later today to ensure the rabbits are ok and the garden is safe.

Most garden sheds have a long guarantee on them and can be made from different sorts of materials with those made from metal offering better protection against fires.
