A Yorkshire farmer has won a European award for his restoration of farm buildings and environmental projects on his estate over the past 20 years, reports the Darlington and Stockton Times.
Charles Forbes-Adams renovated his farm buildings at a cost of £1.4 million, and converted them into 24 green offices and 14 industrial units
Mr Adams has received the Anders Wall Award, which is open to all European countries, and backed by the Brussels-based Landowners Organisation.
"I am delighted that the estate is receiving such high profile recognition and I would like to thank all of my team for their hard work," Mr Adams said to the paper.
Rare breed Hebridean sheep, Longhorn cattle and Exmoor Ponies have been introduced to the Esrick Park Estate, which is located near York, to restore heathland and preserve a cornucopia of wildlife.
The award is given to businesses or individuals who have made a positive contribution to the environment and Mr Adams will be collecting his £8,675 prize at the end of May in the Netherlands.
