Garden shed security 'a priority'
13:04:20 23rd April 2010
Garden sheds and garages should be properly secured so as not to invite in thieves, it has been suggested.
According to the Guardian, South Wales Police have advised keeping expensive tools locked away in the garden shed to prevent any opportunistic crimes from taking place.
A padlock or a heavy duty hasp can be used to secure garden sheds and any valuable items contained within should be anchored down for added security.
South Wales Police was reported by the news provider as saying: "Mark your gardening equipment and valuables with your postcode and house number. In most cases engraving will be most suitable."
Other advice includes using gravel for paths as the thought of making noise will deter any potential thieves, while pruning plants ensures there is no cover for would-be criminals.
Crime across south Wales has decreased in recent months, with 38 fewer offences a day compared to last year
