Men have more leisure time than women, claims OECD

Men have up to half an hour more leisure time a day than women, according to a new report, leaving them free to potter in the garden shed. The international survey from the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) found that men spent longer pursuing hobbies, watching television, playing sport or meeting friends than women.

British men were found to be ranked closely behind France and America among countries where women work harder than men.

The report was released to mark International Women's Day, and called for greater equality for women.

It said: "Governments and firms need to do more to tackle the gender equality gap."

Some 62 per cent of women have jobs across the OECD countries, and women earn a fifth less than men, the Daily Mail reports.

The gap was said to be a result of women taking time off work to concentrate on raising their children.
