Playhouses auctioned in the name of charity

A series of unique playhouses in the US are to be auctioned in a bid to raise money for charity.

The Southwest Montana Building Industry Association is holding its fourth annual Playhouses on Parade event, which will see four of the elaborate playhouses sold to help raise money for a local charity.

Structures range from the lopsided Crooked Cottage to a slightly more modern version called Distinctive Lighting, reports the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.

A Swiss alpine lodge is the theme behind the Ski Palace playhouse, which features skis, curved roof and a door carved with a detailed mountain scene.

Nathan Albrecht, who helped build the Ski Palace, told the news provider: "It's as involved as building a whole house.

"It's what we do everyday, and we're glad to help out the community," he added.

The funds raised from the auctioning of the playhouses will be awarded to the Greater Gallatin United Way charity, a non-profit organisation that invests in numerous projects and initiatives to help the local community.
