Garden sheds and playhouses feature at international show

Garden sheds, playhouses, furniture and lifestyles products are just some of the features to go on display at an international garden show in Bahrain.

The 7th Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS), to be held later this month, will focus on issues related to food security, reports the Gulf Daily News.

A variety of productive trees and plants will be showcased alongside garden buildings, furniture and new technological methods for mass production of food.

BIGS organising committee head Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa told the news provider that the event will address the serious issue of food security in the country.

"We are also looking at what individuals can do to produce food in their homes, so there will be examples of container and roof gardening as well as planting in soil," she said.

"Technological development in productive gardening will also be showcased to hopefully push entities who have the means to establish businesses in food production."

Seventy-five exhibitors from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, Syria, Egypt, France, Italy, Spain, South Africa and India are expected to take part in the show.
