Paint the garden shed for an inexpensive update

17:02:20 15th February 2010

Painting the garden shed has been touted as one of many inexpensive ways to transform the home.

Writing for online news publisher ozcarguide.com, Rita Minogue states: "The humble garden shed will look great if it is covered by an attractive coating of paint.

"You can also plant a couple of climbing roses around the door to give it more charm."

Ms Minogue said that by making the most out of what resources were available, homeowners can update their properties for very little money.

With a bit of imagination the "dead space" under the stairs can be transformed into a wine cellar or seating area, she said.

Applying quality metal fittings and a paint finish to the front door can turn it into an elegant show piece, while mirrors add glamour to create a "dramatic moment" and increase the light in the room, she said.

Meanwhile, editor of DIY week Will Parsons recently stated that more homeowners are looking to take the 'do it yourself' approach to home improvements.
