An historic industrial building site in Northern Ireland has been "spot listed" by the Department of the Environment (DoE), protecting it from possible demolition.
The former Liddells Mill complex in Donaghcloney is the oldest industrial site in the area, dating back to the 18th century.
Building preservation notices have been issued for a number of buildings in the complex, including the chimney and the cricket pavilion – structures identified by the DoE as having architectural or historic interest.
Environment minister Edwin Poots said the region's built heritage was important and should be protected.
"Early indications are that these buildings are particularly noteworthy," he said.
"They represent a significant part of the development of Donaghcloney and have a social history linked to many of the local families."
Deramore Properties Limited, owners of the site, was given permission last year for residential development including new houses, apartments and refurbishment of existing buildings, reports the BBC.
