The role of the garden shed seen in a new light

An increasing number of homeowners are considering unique alternatives to the garden shed, including a backyard office, BBQ hut or a new form of 'eco-pod'.
The Telegraph reports that humble garden sheds have progressed from being "grubby garden huts" to providers of indoor space away from the house.
"We all need somewhere to dream, to put up the model railway or play loud rock music," states the news provider.
"The shed these days can still be as simple as the potting shed, but it can also be a slick 21st-century studio, dining room or sauna."
The news provider reports on the designs of Jay Emery, which features African Pot Houses complete with heated walls and boasting enough room for a dinner party, Bushman Burner Chimineas, and the larger Dome Home.
Meanwhile, the Globe and Mail reports the "micro-house" concept is being considered as an alternative living arrangement.
The garden-shed sized structure uses as little resources as possible, and is creative in how it utilises the available space.
