Installing solar sheds could reap huge benefits

Homeowners should be made more aware of the benefits of installing renewable technologies, such as solar sheds, in their home and garden, according to one expert.
Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), claims that the general public needs "a lot more education" surrounding renewable technology.
"They [public] are still very sceptical about global warming and climate change and what the knock-one effects of those are," he said.
"We are going to have colder winters like the one that we have just experienced and therefore people will be paying more money for their energy if they are buying it from the utilities, so supplementing it with the renewable energy systems can be a big bonus for them."
Mr Leech said a "continual bombardment" is needed in order to highlight the advantages of including devices such as solar panels in home improvement plans.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) this week announced details of its plan allowing households and communities who install generating technologies to be entitled to claim payments for producing low carbon electricity.
Power from solar panels could result in earning £900, according to the DECC.
