Farm buildings given new lease of life

17:01:20 28th January 2010

Former farm buildings in the North Yorkshire village of Old Malton are to be transformed into a children's nursery.

The Ryedale District Council's planning committee has backed the transformation of the buildings into a day nursery and offices, the Gazette & Herald reports.

An increase in the number of parents working full time in the area has increased the need for more childcare facilities, councillor Jane Wilford told the news provider.

"If we are going to encourage people to live and work locally, we have to provide creches and nurseries," she said.

Councillor Natalie Warriner mirrored her colleague's comments, stating childcare provision was important in terms of improving the economy.

Redworth Construction is behind the plans, which specialises in residential and nursing care homes, children's nurseries and housing association projects.ADNFCR-2655-ID-19584898-ADNFCR
