Birds captured on camera in snowy garden

An amateur photographer in Suffolk has used this week's cold snap as an opportunity to capture some outstanding nature shots, the Evening Star reports today (January 7th).
Steve Plume, who lives in Great Blakenham, was able to capture the birds in his garden in pictures which reflect the beauty of winter.
One shows the traditional image of a robin, puffing out its chest in the cold, while another is a portrait of a blackbird searching for food amid the snow.
Mr Plume told the news provider: "When the ground is covered in snow, these birds cannot feed. It is especially important to help the ground feeders such as Blackbirds, Thrushes, Fieldfares and Redwings."
Last month, the Scotsman reported the story of Norman Taylor, a keen wildlife photographer who feared he may never be able to enjoy his pastime again when he started losing his sight.
Mr Taylor was able to use the relative dark of his garden shed to compose and take pictures of other subjects, and was able to return to his hobby.
