Garden charity toasts New Year funding boost

A garden charity in Oxfordshire has received a major grant from a finance company, the Henley Standard reports today (December 31st).
Greenshoots, which is based in the village of Rotherfield Peppard, has received £3,500 from ING Direct which has large offices in nearby town Reading.
The charity provides horticultural training for people with learning difficulties or who are recovering from mental illness. Giving a safe environment in which to master new skills, it helps people gain confidence and move into employment.
Workers at ING Direct's Reading office raised the money by organising fundraising events, including a Halloween raffle night at a pub which alone raised £1,000.
Debbie Thomas, the company employee who organised the event, told the news provider "We chose to support Greenshoots because we identify with its desire to help people to reach their full potential.
"It feels great to be helping the charity continue its fantastic work."
