A legal dispute over just six square metres of garden land cost a Gloucestershire man £160,000 in legal costs, the Guardian reports.
The plot of garden is sited between two driveways in Cheltenham, and is home to little more than a few small bushes.
Its owner Robert Welding was taken to court by neighbour Martin Charalamous, who was ordered to pay the cost of successive court cases, amounting to £160,000 after a county court upheld Mr Welding´s claims.
Mr Welding told the news provider: "I am obviously very pleased with the result. I bear no ill will towards my neighbours but feel strongly that this case should never have come to court."
Earlier this week, a Member of Parliament found himself in hot water after it was revealed he claimed for a garden shed on expenses.
Ben Chapman, MP for Wirral South claimed £343 of taxpayers´ money for the timber shed, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.
