A member of parliament claimed for £343 of taxpayers´ money on a garden shed in his expenses, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.
Ben Chapman, who has represented the Merseyside constituency of Wirral South since 1997, announced that he was retiring from parliament in May after being found to have over-claimed on his mortgage.
In the fresh disclosures, it has been revealed that Mr Chapman claimed for a trellis for his garden at a cost of £230 as well as the garden shed, which he claimed was an essential repair when questioned by the parliamentary fees office.
In October, leader of the Liberal Democrats Nick Clegg was asked to pay back £910 which he had claimed in gardening costs in a letter from Sir Thomas Legg, who undertook an audit of parliamentary expenses.
Gardens featured prominently in other expenses revelations, with Peter Viggers, MP for Gosport, claiming £1,645 for a ´duck island´.
