Industrial buildings to be developed on disused site

A former Ministry of Defence (MOD) site in Wiltshire will be redeveloped to provide a mix of housing and industrial buildings, it was announced this week.

The disused land, which is located in Bishops Cannings, is set to be sold to a property developer, reports Thisiswiltshire.co.uk.

Previously, local authorities had wanted the area to be retained exclusively for employment but subsequently accepted a proposal for a mixed development.

The land is currently owned by Leda Properties, which was previously an MOD computer firm.

Spokesman for the company Nick Hardcastle told the news provider: "It was always our intention to sell the site once we had planning approval. We are in the process of trying to secure a purchaser and we are at a reasonably advanced stage."

Many local residents are keen for the site to be developed because it has attracted anti-social behaviour.
