Garden threatened over wheelie bin storage
A gardener from Harlow has been asked to rip up her beloved shrubs and flowers to make room for wheelie bins, the Daily Mail reports today (November 27th).
Grandmother Sandra St John was told by Harlow Council that she needed to clear space for two new large bins.
Many people choose to store their bins in inexpensive sheds or garages if there is insufficient space in their front garden.
Mrs St John tried to store the bins on a concrete garden base, but found it difficult to move them from this to the road each week for collection.
She told the news provider: "My garden is only small but that makes it all the more precious. I spend all my time outside and have spent years getting those shrubs how I want them."
Given the small size of her front garden, she plans to resist the councilīs request for her to dig up her plants to make space for the bins.
This week, the Norwich Evening News reported that houses in Great Yarmouth are set to get a third wheelie bin for their food waste.
