Aussies celebrate Melbourne Cup Day in metal shed
Towns in northern Australia are gearing up for this yearīs Melbourne Cup, and in Ayton in the north of Queensland, punters from miles around gather every year in a metal shed to watch the horse race, ABC News reports today (November 3rd)
Organiser Peter Shields told the provider: "All we want to know is how many horses are running in the race.
"If there is about 14 horses running in the race then we just have 14 numbers in the hat and you just pick out a number."
Elsewhere, another town will play host to a unique racing event involving camels held to coincide with the famous event. Over 2,000 people are expected to get together today in Gympie, Queensland for the day which involves six camel races.
Metal sheds are available in a range of sizes, while Asgard security sheds offer extra protection from burglary.
Shed Baron models provide the security of a metal shed with the look of a traditional wooden shed.
